OUR SOLUTION: AFFORDABLE, SIMPLE & FLEXIBLE

To help alleviate the current housing crunch we looked at solutions from multiple perspectives - economic, demographic, political, environmental, aesthetic.

We created a solution that shows how housing design can support flexibility for a variety of economic pursuits, create “lovable” density, promote a healthy relationship to existing community character, more efficiently serve a variety of end users, and reduce the amount of time and resources required to build and operate a home.

The Side Hustle House is a solid base. It provides the physical support for a number of economic activities benefiting the homeowner and the region, potentially providing both mixed-use and mixed-income neighborhoods in small, infill lots and at new development sites.

Website now live! @unionstudioarch has officially launched the @sidehustlehouse website. The Side Hustle House is a starter home design that can adapt and grow to meet life’s changes while supporting methods of generating income on the side.
The students of @acerhodeisland had their first experience using a hot wire foam cutter to make models of the @sidehustlehouse We really liked this students model who built out the porch, added a chimney and later added details around the windows.
